Pierced!

After an 11 month wait Colin finally gave in to letting me pierce Avah's ears. She was late on one of her Hep B shots so I took her in for a nursing apt. and they said that they would pierce her ears at the same time. Poor girl didn't know what was coming for her. It went really quick and she hardly cried. Big Brother was there to cheer her on. Also,Christian's school has an annual Dad's night. This was the first Dad's night that Colin has ever attended and they were both so excited about it. It went really well. Colin and Christian's favorite part about the night was playing with the mealworms(gross) Total guy thing. It was so cute to see them off. Now i'm just trying to finish the final touch on the Girl's birthday party!

Good ole crawfish. Christian you even liked them!

Christian's beads from the children's parade.

My beads from 3 parades!

"Throw me something Mister." I don't know what could have been a sweeter sound than Christian hanging over the gaurd rail shouting to the top of his lungs "Throw me something Mister!" We had a great time this past week when we went home to good ole Louisiana. We were supposed to leave for our trip on Thursday morning but the snow and nasty VA weather pushed our trip back by a day. So we spent most of Friday traveling and didn't get into Lafayette until late Friday night. Saturday at around 12:00 we took Christian to his first Mardi Gras parade. It was the Children's parade of Lafayette and boy did we have a blast. He was so eager for the parade to start and if you ask him what his favorite part was he will say the band. Later that night our friends Jen and Ben made reservations for Valentines diner at Cafe Vermilionville. We had an awesome time and we even got to go bowling after wards. It was our first real date since we had Avah. Sunday we got to relax. We headed down to my Aunt Judy's (Who is my adopoted grandmother). My mom's mom's sister. So we have been close since I was little. We got to have lunch with her and uncle Glen and she got to meet Avah for the first time. Christian had a blast climbling in the grapefruit tree and we can never pass up Aunt Judy's cooking. She made jambalya, myer's sausage rice and gravy, smoothered cabbage, potatoe salad, petite pois, and blackberry cobbler. That didn't even include the chow chow, beats, and bread and butter pickles that went along with it. When we were little she used to always make us PB & J with figs and she made one for Christian for the first time. After lunch we were off to have diner with my side of the family. Mrs. Angela my mom's friend cooked an awesome crawfish fetuccini. Monday Colin's mom, my mom, and I went to Phil's and I got to eat donuts at Meche's soo good. Then we had diner with Colin's sister and her new boyfriend. Tuesday was the big day. Colin's dad's office always host and big cookout where you literally just sit around eat and walk down to the parades. It was a great time and the food was delicious. Our friends Bobby and Holly drove from New Orleans to come and spend time with us so that was awesome. Colin also got to hang out with Scott, Ben, and Tim. All in all it was great day and I enjoyed watching Christian experience Mardi Gras. It is so sad to know that when asked where are you from he will say "Northern Virginia". We are planning on going back again next year and I cannot wait!!!!

Christian and Avah Who Dat Babies!

That's right if you have not heard yet the New Orleans Saints have won the super bowl. All day long we were preparing for the super bowl. I started the pot of Gumbo at 7:30 in the morning to make sure that it would taste just right. Our t-shirts were in, tattoos were on, and Avah's dress was complete. We were ready to party until.....We unfortunately heard Avah throwing up at around 3:30. That gave us two hours before the game to asses the situation. At first I just thought it was a cough and then she made herself throw up(which by the way she is notorious for doing) but we were wrong. She was sick until 6:00. So there was no Super bowl party for us. What are the odds. To make the best of it we still got everyone dressed up and enjoyed the super bowl from the confines of our own home. Christian was really into it and actually stayed up until it ended. Once the Saints won he began screaming and yelling. It was hilarious. He also enjoyed slapping Colin thanks to the Doritos commercial. Hopefully the Welch family can have a better week this week.

Enough Snow Already!

Avah enjoying all of her toys this morning!

Loving her Who Dat? Bum!

Snowball in hand and Marshmellow in mouth!

Hiding under the table!

I'm pretty sure that by now it's up to his shoulders!

So instead of preparing for the Superbowl we are headed for the Snowbowl. We have gotten an insane amount of snow last night and today. It seems never ending. Hopefully we can make it out of the house tomorrow for the Superbowl party we are supposed to attend.

Colin and Christian in the snow!

Avah's first time at the pool!

Ahh baby girl! Ten months already! Avah is continuing to develop and it seems like over the past two weeks she is really changing. She loves to follow me around and sometimes I feel like she is attached to my hip! She loves to sign "Touchdown" Which is hilarious. She is crawling super fast and pulling up on everything. This morning she took her first step. I give her a few more days and she may be walking. Luckily for us our house is already baby proofed and walking might actually make things easier. We have moved her out of her infant carrier into the marathon and she loves it. She can see Christian better and likes to talk to her brother. I'm still trying to get her ears peirced but Daddy isn't quite ready yet. We also took Avah to the pool for the first time the other day and she really loves being in the water. She is so brave that she actually managed to dunk her head in the water a couple of times. On another note we just had another snow storm. The kids are enjoying playing in the snow. If you ask me I'm ready for summer!
